Booked in for me and my daughter to stay after a gig for one night. Pub downstairs is lovely and was busy when we arrived. We didn't have time to stay for a drink as we had to head out so not sure on prices. Check-in was smooth. The 2 gentleman we spoke to during our visit were friendly and helpful. Did check i.d and card on check in but makes it feel more secure that they know who's coming in and out. We had a twin room. Nice view of the cathedral. Room was clean and quite spacious. Tea, coffee avaliable. TV, fan and iron available. There was a small sink and mirror. Decor was nice just needs a lick of paint in a few places. Bathroom was shared. But it was clean and we had no issues during our stay. We came back late after a gig but was easy to get in. Have to buzz and state name and Room number. Which again made it feel more secure. Breakfast was really nice. A good selection available to suit all tastes. The orange juice and coffee was nice and I find alot of the hotels I've visited they taste cheap. Overall a great stay. Especially for the price (£45) for both of us with breakfast included. Would use again for another gig night. Not overly ideal for those who require a lift as there is lots of stairs. But wasn't an issue for us. Got a few squeaky floor boards that need looking at. Other then that... 👍
My son (12) and I came on boxing day. Was told the kitchen closed at eight. The manager on duty informed me that last order was at 7:45. As a chef of a hotel the customer orders untill close. That's a £30 that the hotel didn't get. As we were watching the match after 8 we were informed that there was to be no minors in the bar after 8. Which again is for licensing reasons apparently. Even though there were 2 people in what I can assume to be the residents bar. I also witnessed the manager smoking in plain site of the establishment. Such an Aire of indifference and nonchalance with the staff. The room itself has floors as level as a kid drawing a line on a piece of paper. You'd almost get seasickness walking around the bed. So in summation; don't expect anything fancy or for them to be accommodating in any way.
Good, pretty typical small European hotel experience. Older building but good price for the location. 24 hour front desk was very nice and helpful. Rooms were a little dated but had everything we needed. We would probably stay here again.
The room was very warm and you couldn't open the windows to let in air and there is NO LIFT so if you have a bad back this is not the hotel to stay in you have to pull you suitcase behind you go up 3 floors. I ask to cleaner 3 time to put toilet roll in our room which they didn't. The only good thing about this hotel is the staff are amazing and the breakfast is delicious. But other then that this hotel needs to improve on getting a lift and getting the floors done and rooms up to date. Floor are squeaky and uneven you can hear every foot step when people walk pass your room. Not acceptable.
Stayed for one night, as needed to be in the city for a family party. Paid £194 for the night (think it was so expensive due to a Peter kay concert that night) Positives: Fantastic location central to arndale, christmas markets and trams, friendly staff, breakfast was very nice, lovely view from the room overlooking the cathedral, good lively bar downstairs. Negatives: the room was tired looking and in need and of some maintenance, bathroom and room small, the toilets are electric and when they are flushed, or water run it makes a very very loud noise and vibrates the whole room. Overall fine for one night, but the price was defo not budget and the hotel is.
