Couldn’t be more happy with the Midland! Me and my husband had our wedding at the Midland last Saturday, and it was the best place we could have chosen. We had a small wedding so we went with the intimate wedding package. Everything was perfect, staff was lovely and helpful all the time, the events team did a great job at managing everything. I am very grateful that we had our wedding there. Definitely coming back for future events!
Nice hotel with lovely common areas. The AC unit was falling off the wall in the bedroom and the bathroom needed updating. Breakfast was nice however we made drinks and toast and left them on the table to get hot food as it's a buffet, came back to the table and it had been cleared away so it was a little rushed and had a canteen feel. The spa areas were nice however you can't pre-book and not guaranteed to get in even though you're a paying guest. Overall I enjoyed it, but there are others at the same price which offer a better all round experience.
Great experience staying at the hotel for a few nights on a work trip. Comfy and clean rooms with good facilities and friendly and pleasant staff. Food selection on the bar menu was varied and a good too. Will defo look to book when I'm in the city on a social visit.
This evening, after attending a show at the Opera House, my wife, daughter, and I visited The Midland Hotel for drinks and light refreshments. Unfortunately, the experience fell far below the standards one would expect from a hotel with such a renowned reputation. We ordered fresh mint tea and food. Initially, the waitress seemed unsure if they could even serve fresh mint, but later confirmed they could. However, what was presented as "mint tea" turned out to be simply hot water with mint leaves – no tea. When we queried this, the waitress dismissively stated, "That’s how we serve mint tea." Her tone was condescending, and her attitude lacked any semblance of customer service. A hotel of this calibre should certainly know how to prepare and serve a proper mint tea. While I could overlook the use of basic ceramic tea cups instead of glassware, the absence of tea leaves was astonishing. Eventually, we were begrudgingly offered a single breakfast tea bag to share between us, which only added to the disappointment. The accompanying food was average at best, but what truly left a sour taste was the lack of professionalism and attention to detail. For a hotel that prides itself on culinary excellence and impeccable service, this was an embarrassing letdown. As someone who once associated The Midland with tradition and quality, tonight’s experience was deeply disappointing. It’s a stark reminder that reputation alone is no guarantee of excellence.
