It's not often I come across such understanding, lovely staff. From the first moment at reception Anna was polite lovely and helpful, not to mention professional. After day one and an argument with my partner the gentlemen on reception where the definition of kind and the customer care we received was 2nd to none. The rooms where clean and comfortable. I've travelled a lot as you can see by contributions to Google but I have to say this is the best place I've stayed. Mainly due to the staff. Any time I am in Manchester I will be returning. Hopefully for a longer duration. It has been a pleasure to stay at the garden. If you are looking for an affordable hotel with the best staff in the north West then this is the place to go. I'm sure if you tried you'd find something cheaper but you'd be robbing yourself of a genuinely great bunch of people. The location is central close to the trams and bars, not To mention shopping district. I'm happy we chose the garden.
It's definitely cheap for a reason. Service was perfunctory, decor dated, cigarette smoke smell in the staircase and hallways. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. Would have been 4 stars if the bathroom was properly clean! It is noisy, but earplugs would solve that. Location, however is excellent. So if you just need a cheap bed for the night in the middle of Manchester then it does the job.
The hotel is very centrally located and has public transport links. The single room was fine, the grout in the bathroom could be renewed, it doesn't look very well maintained. The noise from the wooden floors made the room very loud at night. Unfortunately, there was an unpleasant argument with a member of staff in the morning because I had booked my room with breakfast, but the hotel only had a booking without breakfast. The misunderstanding was only cleared up after contacting the customer service of my booking portal. I would have preferred a much more customer-oriented and, above all, friendlier approach. The member of staff was extremely unfriendly. The breakfast was good, but the employee was overwhelmed with refilling the bottles, so there was no cheese at first. When the cheese was refilled, the toast was gone. Perhaps there was a shortage of staff? In any case, I have had better breakfasts. It was clear to me from the start that I couldn't expect great luxury in this hotel, but you can expect friendliness and customer orientation. I wouldn't book this hotel again.
I stay here due to my working away from home arrangements and need somewhere to stay 2 nights every week throughout the year….so almost my “home from home”! Less than a 3 minute walk to my office, easy walking distance for both the Piccadilly train station, and main central shopping areas. Staff are nothing short of fantastic and extremely pleasant and helpful. Fantastic room prices, and an excellent (and not too much to feel stuffed!) “full English” in a morning. Rooms that I have had so far always feel clean and tidy. Very much enjoy my stays here, and ALWAYS find my weekly stays a pleasure. Would highly recommend, but don’t want you all booking up so that I can’t re-book myself!!
have to pay extra &1.2 for city visitor fee, &5 for luggage store, have to provide personal information to them, which never been asked in IBIS or Travelodge. every step on the floor makes noise. people open other rooms sounds like opening my door. Staff are nice.
