Myself and a group of friends ate here last night and had a fabulous time! I booked the table in advance as there were twelve of us and pre-ordered our food ahead. I had to adjust the order a few times, so thank you Elliot for your patience with that! Unfortunately I didn't get the name of our server last night, but she really was outstanding! Very attentive, despite the restaurant being extremely busy. Every time we ordered more drinks, they we delivered to the table so quickly. The food was delicious and the whole pub had a great atmosphere. Overall just an amazing experience. Thank you!
For the second year running we've dined at the Abel Heywood for our annual Christmas get together of retired colleagues. Our hosts and serving staff were welcoming, and the food ( which we had pre ordered when we made the booking) was fantastic. Very tasty and value for money . ( Don't waste your money buying food at the Christmas Markets, spend a little more and receive far better ) The place has a tremendous atmosphere, clean and well arranged. ( the table seating is well spaced and not on top of each other.) The Abel Heywood is certainly on our return list for future events. Highly recommended.
So I booked a table for Myself and 10 friends for my birthday, and the whole experience was nothing short of exceptional. The staff were friendly, polite and very attentive and couldn't do enough for us. The lunch was simply fantastic. We ordered 5 sharing Sunday lunch sharing platters and 2 individual meals, all of which came out at the same time and were cooked to perfection. The amount of lunch we recieved was outstanding and the highlight of the day was a dessert coming out with a very special touch. Thank you for making the day just perfect. If you've not yet visited Abel Heywood then make it so. We'll definitely be back!
Visited on a Wednesday after work as a treat, select wines are only £14.99 so we had the Merlot. I had the Braised Short rib of beef on mash with roasted onion, broccoli and cooking liquor and it was very tasty, only a small amount of fat on the meat, nice and tender. My fella had the lamb and mint burger with onion bhaji, mango chutney and curry sauce which comes with raita and chips on the side, he was a happy bunny and ate every bit. Nice atmosphere, quite busy for a week night, I think we’ll be doing that again in the not to distant future.
brought my partner here as part of a christmas present and was quite disappointed - we both ordered vegan options but they were largely bland and a lot less than the other items on the menu. the only perk was the offer on the wine. the service was pretty sub par, with our plates not being cleared/desserts not being offered for almost an hour. they only took our payment as they saw us get ready to leave doesn't match the description as a gourmet pub :(
