It’s great that it’s cheap and location is really nice in city centre but there’s things to be weary of. We booked a double bed room with a private bathroom but towels are £4 to borrow. No hand towels included or hand dryers. Bedrooms are large but very dusty. Sheets had stains all over but were still “clean”. Not a lot of facilities in room, so it feels a lot empty. On the good things though, we really liked the 24 hour reception and the kitchen facilities. Definitely is a hostel and feels like a hostel. You get what you’ve paid for!
Security Concern: My sister and I stayed in a private 2 bed with a private bathroom. The roomw as nice and clean and the front desk was friendly. The first night was fine, just some noise from the street and bar. The second night was awful. We barely slept at all. From around 11 pm to 6 am, there was yelling, fighting, and crying from the room next door. At first, it sounded like one drunken guy causing some trouble, and we heard people trying to calm him down. On and off things escalated with multiple people shouting and things banging against the wall. We considered calling police and then around 4 am, we heard a woman sobbing and running down the corridor. It sounded like she was on the phone with the police. She obviously felt unsafe and was literally running from this man. I tried calling the reception desk as I was afraid to leave the room, and the number did not work. The police did respond quickly but left without taking any action. We then heard the girl crying again and after an hour there were more loud noises, shouting, and doors slamming so we called the police. They responded quickly, but again, no action was taken. We heard them tell the man he needed to stay in his room or he'd be put in a cell. I am shocked that the girl was not moved to another area and that man was not kicked out either by the hostel or by the police. Both times the police were leaving, we heard men laughing about the situation, saying the man was just trying to get out to get a drink. Personally, I was terrified for the safety of this woman and felt uncomfortable leaving the room that morning to check out. That behavior is completely unacceptable, hostel or not, and should not have been tolerated by the facility.
Stayed in the suite room which was really nice, only cost £63 for the night. On arrival the room was spotless & thankfully heated to a cosy temperature. Just a few faults though to pick at.. The “mini bar” hadn’t been stocked very well, they give you tea bags but no sugar or milk? And one pod for the coffee machine when there were two of us. Unfortunately even with the earplugs that the hostel provides, I could still hear street noise most of the night. Also found a big dark blood stain on my rather yellow pillow that I noticed through the cover .. bed was massive though and comfy enough. Bathroom was alright, nothing special- decent hot shower and radiator for keeping towels dry. I would definitely stay again, maybe just be more prepared to bring your own supplies.
Great location, fairly priced versus other hotels nearby. I booked a double room, it was a reasonable size for the price. But, I had such a poor night sleep here. The pillows are uncomfortable, and only one each. The bathroom is basic, the shower doors are loose and slightly dangerous when opening and closing. There are no towels provided unless paid for (£4), not even a hand towel is provided. On the second floor, the sound from the street is so loud until around 4am, the single glazing really needs upgrading. The doors in the corridor in the hotel are extremely loud, all other bedroom doors bang or squeek very loudly when opening and closing The curtains are too small to cover the windows and let the light in. I did not sleep. No matter how cheap this place is, it's just not worth staying here. Just pay a little extra for a decent place. I'd avoid this place at all costs.
More attention should be paid to the cleanliness of the rooms. Also, towels and hair dryers are not provided. These are general needs. Extra money should not be requested.
