The rooms are very clean, spacious and modern. The location is ideal and most attractions are within walking distance or short taxi ride. The reason we have 3 stars for service was; when we checked in we not given any information on when and where breakfast was and the welcome could have been more pleasant. The reception staff need to improve on their customer service skills and overall welcoming guested to the hotel. The breakfast is very good and there is plenty of choice to suit all needs.
Location is pretty good, close to the city centre and close to the trams, train station. Rooms were nice and spacious, quite clean but there wasnt anything in the minibar which was disappointing as there was no water. The phone didn’t work either when I tried calling to tell reception that there’s no dental kit provided (I thought this would be standard for a premium hotel). Restaurant was also really small and had to wait about half an hour to be seated for breakfast
Stayed here in the past when it was the macdonald Hotel, decided to use it again for a one night trip. The check-in was flawless, cannot complain. The rooms were very nice, very big and spacious. Well kept and clean throughout. The bathroom was very nice, a big stand-in shower which was lovely. I've had to drop the review as the bed I slept on was not very comfy at all. Inconsistent sleep, constantly waking during the night to try to be comfortable. I don't think the pillows helped either. Put your head on them, and the pillow goes around your head, which is on the mattress, making you feel like being smothered.
After 25 years away from the UK, Manchester was our first stop for just one night. We landed at MAN at 5 a.m. and got to the hotel by 9 a.m. Matthew at the front desk was super kind and helpful, working hard to get us a room by around 11 a.m. (we’re platinum members). He also gave us a lounge card so we could relax and grab breakfast in the lounge—perfect after our long overseas flight. We got our room just after 11 a.m., and it was big for a UK hotel, with a nice view of Piccadilly Station. The hotel’s location is great, especially if you’re catching a train: it’s only a three-minute walk to Piccadilly Station, and there’s even a train schedule in the lobby, which is really handy.
Appalling Experience – Not Suitable for Families, Avoid If You Have Children Our stay at this so-called premium hotel was extremely disappointing. When booking, we explicitly requested a cot bed for our baby — something any reputable hotel should and promised they would be able to accommodate. On arrival, we were told none were available and instead, the staff offered to set up a sofa bed for our baby, which is entirely inappropriate and unsafe. Even worse, one member of staff actually suggested we let our baby sleep on the floor, surrounded by blankets so he "wouldn’t fall out of bed." I was speechless. The complete lack of understanding around child safety was deeply concerning. We were then told the hotel only has 6 cot beds for over 300 rooms — a disgraceful ratio for any establishment, let alone one that charges premium rates and claims to be family-friendly. No compensation, apology, or gesture of goodwill was offered at any point. We paid a premium price and received substandard service and a total disregard for basic family needs. If you’re travelling with young children, do not stay here. This experience was not just disappointing — it was unacceptable.
