We stayed here last night for 1 night and I have to start off by saying the rooms are beautiful, the tv is large and the beds are very spacious. However, upon arrival I noticed there were long hairs on the shower floor, I did want a bath but after noticing this I didn’t trust the cleanliness of the bath. There was also a lot of hair on the floor in front of the mirror in the main room (used to get ready I presume) so clearly the room hasn’t been hoovered prior to our visit and the shower possibly not cleaned from the last visitor. Unfortunately the worst part for me is how firm the mattresses are, I have never laid on a mattress so hard in my life, luckily we had two double beds in our room so I took the quilt from the second bed and folded it in half to lay on as a bit of extra padding, I still felt the firmness of the mattress but it does take the pain of the firmness off my hips slightly. I was awoken at 7:30am by the banging and clanging of workers outside which persisted for 20 minutes (not the hotels fault). After going out and arriving back at my hotel I did go to the bar to request a glass of water, before I asked there were a couple next to me who asked the bar man the same question, in which they were told there’s no water available - what does this even mean? Do you not have taps? So there was no point in me asking, we had to drink from the bathroom sink which isn’t very hygienic considering it’s next to the toilet. Perhaps a couple bottles of water could be supplied per room in the fridges upon arrival. There were plenty of towels and the aircon worked great, iron and ironing board supplied too, I can’t fault this part of my stay. Overall, beautiful spacious and modern room but multiple factors let it down for me. The hotel is well presented but I didn’t get the 4* feel from my stay, personally.
This is a very conveniently located hotel, 5 minutes' walk from Piccadilly Station and within walking distance of all city centre attractions. The staff are very helpful. The hotel has been nicely refurbished. The rooms are large, with great bathrooms with both bath and shower. One thing to be aware of, though, is that something possessed the hotel management to think it would be a good idea to remove desks from the rooms. Having to try and work on a small round coffee table while sitting in an easy chair is very uncomfortable, as I discovered. So, if you're travelling for leisure this is a great choice but for business travellers I'd say probably best to look elsewhere unless you enjoy going to the osteopath! PS I wonder which of the automatic bot replies my review will get 🤔
Great location and spacious room for 2, close to the main station, convenient to visit city center. However, the hotel looks like under staff especially at check in, check out, there's a long queue waiting. Not sure if we missed, there looks like no express check out box to collect the key card?
Brilliant hotel and overall a fantastic experience. We attended with 2 kids for the batman experience just a 2 minute walk away and was greeted with lovely polite staff upon check in and checked in early with no fuss. Our room was on 4th floor and was superb. Freshly painted, clean and spacious. The hotel is going through renovations with scaffolding but this didn't interfere with our experience. Upon check-in the TV didn't work however after notifying reception a engineer was at our room within 10 minutes and sorted the problem so no issues at all. Beds were lovely, soft and snuggly. Never had a hotel shower with complimentary condition before, only shampoo and gel however this was a lovely extra touch that I appreciated. Breakfast was one of the best I've been to. My two little ones tucked into a great selection of veggie options and fresh fruit juices. Lovely selection and again serving staff was the politest ever, interested in our day and what we had planned next. For us a great hotel is always how hospitable the staff are, how clean the room is, how comfy the bed was and the breakfast the next day. This was 5star all around, very very pleasant visit and will be back again or alternative marriot without hesitation. Thank you!!
There were a number of issues during this visit. Each was dealt with competently but I would rather they had not arisen. A recent acquisition, the hotel is undergoing refurbishment. This was relatively unintrusive but did give rise to problems. Originally in #801, we discovered that 50% of the electrics were not working. This required work and we were moved to #818. The living area of the suite had disproportionately few sockets. The inside of one cupboard was unfinished. The second toilet had no spare toilet roll nor was soap provided at the hand basin. Soap had not been provided in #801 either leaving one to enter the shower or lean over the bath. We were out for several hours on two days but housekeeping had not made it round by the time we returned. The car park was not signed with current branding; this led us to pay for nearby parking during check in. In the hotel, clumsily laid out as a relic of its former use, toilets and restaurant are awkwardly located. The M lounge is not adequately signed and, around the property, safety signs are propped up rather than affixed. The lift on floor 1 has only down buttons (no up). The restaurant served a good dinner but breakfast saw two toasters both of which toasted on one side only - one knob removed. Our toast was cooked for us but the 'waiting for parts' does not really cut it. There was no notice at the toasters to advise users. The hotel location is good for access to transport and city centre. We would stay again when it is fully operational.
