"I arrived early on the day 01/04/25 and went to the reception for an early check-in, but the staff member (I'm not sure of his name) wasn't very helpful. He treated my stay as if it was only for one night and told me to wait until around 2 or 3 PM. He wasn't very friendly Overall, the experience at the hotel could have been much better in terms of customer service."try to treat all people equal. "Especially Kate, who was incredibly kind and helpful. She ensured I was allocated a lovely room and took great care of my stay. A person like her truly makes a difference. Highly recommend!"
Stayed here Friday 21st March and had a fantastic stay. We loved everything about the whole building and spent quite a bit of time exploring. If you have the time, visit the Safe room, the ballroom and the garden terrace that we found on the the Fourth floor (took us 15 mins to find it!) Stayed in room 213 and found it really relaxing. Had dinner in the restaurant and also had breakfast, really enjoyed everything All the staff seem to love working there and couldn't do enough, even just the people walking past us in the corridor. We will Def return
Beautiful building, far from perfect, but being fair to up keep such a vast unit, must be almost impossible and it is generally beautiful. Staff we interacted with were lovely, but it let itself down in a few ways. We were put in a disabled access room, assuming they arent all like this, but the sink and shower were only really suitable if you were 3ft tall or in a wheelchair, especailly as the overhead shower attachment didnt work, also the cover for the bath mat was filthy dirty. On the second day, room service forgot to service our room and despite calling reception twice the phone wasn't answered so we gave up and breakfast service was hit and miss, first day we ordered a coffee which turned up, despite a reminder at the end of breakfast. Finally there are evidently two lifts side by side in the part of the building we stayed, but one has been shut off, this unfortunately means a regular few minutes wait for a lift, we are not lazy but the stairs are numerous as its two flights between every floor, all little bits, but the hotel isnt cheap so this in our experience pulls down what should have been an excellent rating.
I arrived early at the hotel and I was starving so went down for breakfast (which was delicious!). I was met by great welcoming energy from all the staff, but especially from Lana Banana and Syed. They gave me a memorable experience, the most genuine smiles and hospitality beyond what I could imagine. Two fantastic team members that the company should be very proud off. Looking forward to come back again. 5/5
This beautiful hotel oozes charm and character. Reception has a real warmth and welcoming ambience with beautiful decor and history. Staff are very friendly and ready to assist. Our room was upgraded and Andrea was very helpful and knowledgeable from start. The entire hotel is just mind blowing from the large corridors, to directors stairwell. The Refuge bar and Restaurant too compliments the hotel. Dined here which again was great and also in Winter Harden. Kimpton offers happy hour in the Post Room which had a lovely calming feel.
