This is a basic hotel that is in a great location for exploring Manchester and good for 1-2 night stay. I was disappointed with the non existent welcome from the front desk at check in, it was borderline awkward and I felt like a hindrance. Not ideal after a 24hr flight. The rooms are ok and have all the basic amenities. I would stay again mainly for the location
Daughter stayed here last week on a school trip. Can home buzzing about the hotel. Food was top notch especially breakfast, rooms so comfy she slept well every night. Location was perfect for all the activities planned by the school as so central. Customer service top notch as well as she left behind some belongings and the team were fantastic in locating and aiding me in returning them to her. Thank you all
Close to the centre. We got a nice big room with a nice bathroom, it was spacious (even though we were out most of the time). Staff were lovely and helpful. Price is decent for a few nights stay.
The hotel tried to charge me for a two nights stay that I had paid for a week in advance while booking the room through hotels.com. The reason they gave me was because the hotels.com hadn’t posted the payment on IBIS’s account apparently. How is that may fault? The payment was being charged at 2:45am in the night. Thankfully it didn’t go through. I had to go down to the reception at 3am to show them that I had already paid for my stay by showing them the receipt i received from hotels.com and show them the amount was deducted from my account so that they don’t try to deduct it again.
Where to start? As a member of the hotel group discount scheme, I booked two nights at a different hotel, the Ibis Styles some distance up the road. My reasons for choosing that one were that it offered a direct tram link to/from the station as well as a direct bus to and from my work venue. When I arrived at 3 Portland Street, we discovered that my booking had been migrated to this one, at 96 Portland St. I am disabled. It took me the best part of thirty minutes to get to this hotel. I have previously stayed at the Premier Inn a little further along the road, working at the same place, and found transport difficult, WHICH IS WHY I BOOKED THE IBIS. The staff were great, the room was fine, but there is no kitchen for breakfast, which has to be taken in another hotel. What passes for a kitchen is advertised as a 'cocktail bar' called Chills, which is unstaffed. It is also one of those pestilential places where, if you don't do the irritating mobile phone rubbish, you can neither eat nor drink. Ordering can only be done via a smartphone app, and if you do not do banking/payment via a phone, you can't pay for anything either. I really, REALLY detest this system. Would I stay again? No food, no bar, awkward transport links: the answer is an obvious 'No'.
