Ideal location for where I wanted to be but rooms were sub standard really. If you want to get a good nights sleep your car would be a better option as there is no soundproofing especially if you have an adjoining room door. All we could here was there full conversation, then TV and music played early morning. The shower taps fell off on the floor, the towels smelt bad and the shower drain was black and dirty. Not what I call a comfortable stay.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐☆☆☆ Noise Levels: Poor soundproofing; disturbed sleep due to noise from other rooms and the kitchen below. Room Quality: Clean with functional amenities, but overlooked details (e.g., used dental pick on the floor). Bed Comfort: Sofa bed offered in a twin room setup; not clearly communicated beforehand. Facilities: Limited bar options; standard machine coffee. Commute: Convenient location with ample parking. I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express, Manchester East, for one night on a Tuesday following a concert visit. Unfortunately, my experience left me with mixed feelings, as several issues affected my overall comfort. Noise Levels: A Poor Night’s Sleep The soundproofing in the hotel was disappointing. I stayed on the second floor, and throughout the night, I could hear various noises—from kettles boiling and mugs clattering to a persistent two-minute period of beeping at 5 a.m. By 6 a.m., the sounds of breakfast preparation in the kitchen below were audible, even with the window shut. I later discovered that the beeping noise came from the reception telephone, which was loud enough to reach my room. My room was also located next to the stairwell, adding to the early morning disturbances. However, other members of my group, staying on the third floor, reported a peaceful and undisturbed night. It seems I may have drawn the short straw with my room location. Room and Bed Comfort The room itself was fairly clean, though I did notice a used dental pick left on the bathroom floor, which detracted from the overall impression of cleanliness. The shower worked well, and the room temperature was perfect, but the bed situation was less than ideal. We had requested a twin room, but the hotel only provided one standard bed and a sofa bed. This was not clearly communicated during the booking process, leading to confusion and frustration when we called to clarify. It took 10 minutes on hold before staff confirmed the arrangement. My roommate, who had the actual bed, slept well, but the sofa bed was not particularly comfortable for a good night’s rest. Facilities and Amenities The hotel’s facilities were in line with what you’d expect from a budget-friendly option. The bar had limited choices, offering a couple of beers on tap (mostly pilsner and lager) and a small, understocked fridge with a few ciders but no Guinness, which disappointed some in our group. On the upside, there was a reasonable selection of spirits and a few cocktail options. As a coffee enthusiast, I found the offering to be standard for a low-budget hotel—machine coffee, which lacked the richness I’d hoped for. Location and Parking On a more positive note, the hotel was easy to find and had ample parking, which was simple to validate at the lobby entrance. This convenience added value for those travelling by car. Final Thoughts For an affordable stay, the Holiday Inn Express, Manchester East, does offer clean rooms and convenient parking. However, the risk of a poor night’s sleep due to noise levels and unclear communication about room arrangements makes me hesitant to return unless guaranteed a quieter room. It may be worth exploring alternative options if restful sleep is a priority.

Lovely room, very quiet considering busy area. Staff were so pleasant to our children and very helpful. Breakfast as good as usual compared to other Holiday Inn Express hotels. Location maybe not the best, but we only stopped overnight and then into city centre for work.

Slightly over priced, would rather have had room only if we knew what was to come for breakfast. I understand the hotel was busy due to having two events in the area, however you as a hotel knew this other wise the price would not have been inflated by almost 100% your normal rate. 1.) Check in service. Check in was painful, delayed. Reception and bar area was cold even though they have central air conditioning. Two people on at reception one serving the bar and the other checking in guests. (You knew you where fully booked why not get an additional member in for that purpose) 2.) The accommodation. The room was pleasant and to be fair clean, the room was cold however even though there is a timed thermostatic controlled heater. 3.) Public area Bar/restaurant Tinned cans of Guinness £6.25! Bit pricey for what it is. Our first round was Guinness and J2o £9.75 I would understand the cost if we where in central Manchester. Drinks after the event the bar man could not figure out how to use the Guinness nitrosurge device, so we opted for two pints of Larger which had a bad smell tasted awful.(Try cleaning the lines)£14.00 for two pints of amstel (London prices?) 3.)Breakfast! This was an absolute joke, like wacky races. No clean tables unless you did it your self, some people where sat in the conference room having their breakfast. This was down to there not been sufficient tables for all the guests descending down at the same time. (Why not try plan round this if you are fully booked had we been asked to reserve a breakfast time at check in we would have) We had to ask twice for clean cutlery, The food was basic, limited choice of scrambled egg (sure it was powdered egg) Not very appetising spread to be honest. The best (sarcasm) thing was the make shift ginger bread house over the bar, I appreciate the effort that has been made but that just looks cheap and nasty. The location is a bit Ghetto/Un invested I had to walk to a local shop to get some bits, as big bloke nothing really intimidates me but I really did not feel very comfortable walking around that area I understand this is not in the hotels control I feel I should just highlight it, if you do stay here make sure you don't need to get any extra bits (snacks etc) I'm sorry this is negative, I understand most places are short staffed, I can not fault the staffs attitude all team members where happy to help but seemed a bit over stretched.
