We visited Hilton for 1 day in December. There were initially some issues with the booking and we had to amend the date but finally we got there. We upgraded our room and also booked the a table for 2 at the Podium Restaurant, through our booking. The surprise was when we got there that the reception charged us for the booking at the Podium, but the restaurant knew nothing about this and did not had a table for us… the waiter told us that the restaurant is independent from the hotel and we shouldn’t have been able to book a table through them, less to pay at the reception for a pre ordered 3 curse meal. Anyway we got refunded in the end, but I don’t understand why this mess up and why the need to charge you ahead but then when it comes to the actual services to be provided you are sent to speak to some else. The staff at the reception was more or less alright, but very quick to dispatch us and did not explain us anything, giving the fact that was our 1st time at Hilton in Manchester. The room was ‘nice’ with a beautiful view. But the wind blows through every gap and through the night, if you are not a deep sleeper, you will have your noise disturbed by all sorts of bangs, cranks, wobbly doors etc. The bed had some sort of improvised supports and was wobbly as a swing. We had an executive room which gave us free access to the Executive Lounge. This is a great place to spend some time, but just be mindful that you won’t find any more snacks or drinks an hour prior to closing time. The Spa and pool facilities are great and we had some relaxing time there. We had a few cocktails and some snacks at Cloud 23, where we luckily managed to find some space, otherwise with the care from the hotel staff we would have probably gone to bed hungry. Overall the experience was nice but a bit disappointing, given how expensive it’s a room here. Giving the money you pay you would expect the service to be excellent but unfortunately the staff here have a few more tips to learn.

I had the most amazing birthday weekend and want to thank all the staff for making it special. My boyfriend treated us to a trip to Manchester, and everything was perfect—until the heating stopped working. From the moment we arrived, I fell in love with the view from our room, so I was really looking forward to enjoying it for the full weekend. When we reported the issue, we were initially told we would be upgraded, so we packed our things and waited to move. I was freezing, wrapped up in a hoodie and blanket, only to be told later that the upgrade was no longer available. Instead, we were offered a downgrade or a portable heater. Since we had specifically chosen our room for its stunning view, downgrading wasn’t really an option, so we opted for the heater, which eventually helped a little and they gave us some drink vouchers. It would have been a perfect experience if they had made the extra effort to provide us with a room of the same quality, just with working heating which is a necessity in my eyes. That would have really been the cherry on top of an otherwise fantastic stay.

Stayed on the 21st floor in an executive room. Expected more to be honest, the room is tired looking with lots of minor maintenance issues such as a bathroom door which scraps on the floor when half open, peeling wallpaper / picture, TV with a few rows of broken pixels. The bed was comfortable but the springs sound crunchy when sitting on it. Check in took 20 mins whilst the two very polite and pleasant staff dealt with a long line of customers, seems that perhaps more staff for peak check in times should be on hand. The location is excellent, easy access to the entire city by foot or tram stop a very short walk away. For the money, I'd personally not stay again, there are other big name options around the city which are the same standard but half the price.

Booked for 20th Anniversary. Arrived at 1pm. Room not ready and eventually got room at 4.15pm. Was told by unhelpful reception staff we guarantee the room for 4pm check-in. Extortionate considering over £200 paid for less than 24 hours. Room was average. Have stayed in Hilton hotels all over the world and this was disappointing. Ordered room service a simple burger and fries. An hour later having not arrived phoned again to be told oh sorry I remember you calling but forgot to put your order through. Compensated with a soft drink. Simply unacceptable lack of service for a Hilton. In summary definitely won't be staying again. Rude staff. Average room and facilities and wouldn't definitely consider it to be worth £200 plus for less than 24 hours.

Positives: The room was nice, clean and warm. The staff were friendly. The gym and pool were pretty good. The breakfast was really nice. Negatives: There was no drink included with the half board evening meal. The evening meal starters were pretty good but the main meals very disappointing. The chicken burger was not that nice and the pizza was as bland and unimaginative as I've come across. The bar area where the evening meal was served was very cold and I had go back to our room to get a jumper. I'm not someone who is easily cold. I noticed all the other guests either had coats or jumpers on. I also didn't like having to pay a £50 deposit. For what? The drinks I had to purchase for the evening meal have been deducted from the deposit but I would much prefer to pay for extras as I go. I have now received an invoice with the deposit details but it's not clear on there whether the deposit balance is even going to be returned to me. Leaving this room for doubt I find extremely disappointing.
