I’ve bought from Glasses Direct a couple of times now and honestly, it’s one of the most straightforward shopping experiences out there. You just pick your frames online, check out, and send over your prescription. I personally prefer to email it, but you can also upload it or keep it on file. Every time, my glasses have arrived within a week, often quicker than expected. The quality is great, and the customer service is second to none. I genuinely can’t rate them highly enough. Brilliant from start to finish.
Ordered an expensive pair of prescription sunglasses with polarised lenses. They arrived relatively quickly and in good condition, with the right prescription, but the quality of polarisation was extremely poor. Uneven dark and light blotches of polarisation were clearly visible all around the edges of both lenses. This was immediately apparent when holding them up to any polarised light source/screen/sky, so I have no idea how it got through quality control. I contacted customer support and they were quick and efficient in arranging a return and replacement. However, after I waited a couple of weeks for the replacement to arrive, I was dismayed to find they had fitted new lenses, but they had the exact same issue! I complained to customer support and enquired about their quality control processes, and was told that Glasses Direct "rely on our manufacturing partners to adhere to high standards", i.e.they do none of their own quality control. Every time I exchanged emails with the customer support team, it was a different person, so there were some misunderstandings that took up even more of my time. I should have just got a refund when I received the first defective pair and saved myself the hassle. At least they make the returns process easy.
Every thing is great with this company, until something goes wrong. A lense fell out of my glasses after only a few months. I emailed glasses direct, I got a quick response the next day. Return your glasses for a refund , they sent a link with Royal Mail to get a return label. We have also sent you a code to get 60% off a pair of glasses . Great I thought , the link didn’t work and the code didn’t work. This time I phoned glasses direct, told I can use a different courier to return . They will refund my postage, but I still don’t have an address to return . Another email , can I please have an address to return my glasses . They sent me another link for Royal Mail 🫣 I’m going round and round in circles , Will not be using this company ever again .
To be honest, I have used this company before and everything was dealt with well, but my latest order has be a farce. Nothing happened for 2 weeks with my order and only after chasing it did it get sent to be processed. Then after another week I check online only to see that one of my glasses has been cancelled with no word, message or E-mail to let me know. As it stands I still don't know what's happening and they still have my money. So use them at your risk and I definitely to keep a close eye on your order process and be prepared to chase it.
