My work in recent years has led me to stay in a lot of hotels across the world of a range of costs and standards. By a distance this is the worst. It’s almost hilariously bad. I have worked a lot in prisons. The staff in most prisons I have worked in treat their inmates with more grace, humour and charm than the staff here. The only smile I got was a cheeky chuckle when being told there was no free WiFi anywhere. The whole place is plastered with adverts for the cheap booze on sale. A necessary anaesthetic I think. The entire tiny ‘executive’ room creaked. I woke up bruised by my pillow. I left the shower weirdly feeling more dirty than before I got into it. I skipped the breakfast. Walked out into the morning of Piccadilly Gardens graced by the euphoria of release. Every other hotel I stay in from now will feel world class in comparison. A remarkable experience.
The rooms were clean and basic but the walls were very thin to the point I could hear the people in the next room going toilet . The hotel was very loud people were shouting and talking all through the night . The breakfast was not particularly great it was a choice of full English or "continental " the continental part wasn't great there was cereal cheese and mini muffins which were very dry the orange juice was very watered down also. I definitely wouldn't stay here again , I ha e never stayed in a bad hotel before I always think if the room is clean then it doesn't matter as you only there to sleep however we paid a lot of money to stay here and the breakfast was expensive for what we had. If you stay here just don't pay for breakfast a be prepared to get minimal sleep, the only thing really this hotel offers is that it looks great inside and is clean .
The room was ok, everything seemed to work and it was kept warm. Bed was decent. The main issue was the musty mouldy smell which overpowers you as you walk in. The staff are have no training in service, there’s no free WiFi (its 2024 and this hotel wants people to pay for WiFi) there are bouncers at the door in the evening checking your reservation as if it’s a dodgy nightclub or you’re a felon trying to break into the Hilton hotel - but that’s the thing it’s not the Hilton it’s a rundown hotel full of odd characters. I wouldn’t linger in the lobby for too long. The room was the executive double -£100 a night - there was nothing executive about it and certainly wasn’t worth that price. Avoid this place if you value your dignity.
I wasn't expected too much but when I arrived I was wowed by the impressive entrance hallway with its grand staircase and impressive chandelier. Expecting a hotel in decline I found everything very well maintained and clean. Check in was efficient but a little annoying to have to show ID. The room did not have a window but we knew this already. Room was clean with two comfortable beds, flat screen TV, kettle with tea and coffee. Clean towels and an additional throw. Bathroom was clean and the shower had good pressure. There are some lovely spaces including a bar at the front with very reasonably priced drinks. There is a great value restaurant with lunch time deals. Location is brilliant right near Piccadilly Gardens and direct trams to places like Media City UK. Getting to the airport is easy too. This hotel exceeded my expectations and I would go back if in Manchester again.
I have been around the world and I cannot believe this hotel still exists. I think a prison would be more comfortable. The staff are rude. And you will get asked for i.d each time you come in the building. My friend had to sleep in the car as he did not have i.d on him. What a joke of a place
