The location is perfect. I've read the reviews and it seems a lot of people want 5 star hotels at 1 star pricing. For the price this hotel it awesome. It's grand lobby is inviting but the rooms are tired. I would most definitely stay here again. Everything is as it should be for the price. The rooms are nice and clean and the beds are comfortable enough to get a decent sleep. It could do with updating the rooms but I hope that doesn't happen as the price will have to go up. You can't get better for a hotel smack in the centre of Manchester, next to the team stop for
Stayed here for a weekend, the hotel is old but amazing, huge lobby with an amazing chandelier. The reception staff were very helpful and pleasant to deal with. Our room was massive loads of space with comfortable beds, big bathroom. The room was clean but being an old hotel it had a few defects, but nothing untoward. It's in the heart of Manchester,. only a 3 minute walk from the bus station and an 8 minute walk from Manchester Piccadilly station. Loads of restaurants and pubs nearby. I'd highly recommend this hotel for a weekend stay.
Abit disappointed with the room, from the reception it looks like a fantastic hotel, when you start to walk towards the rooms things start going down hill. The room was very basic and had a few things that was not great, for example the tv remote was completely broken and smashed, leaving sharp edges, I had to wait at reception to speak to staff about this, yes they got it sorted within 15 minutes but I think the room should have been at a better standard for the price. Breakfast was fine, not the best variety but still had enough to satisfy most people.
The hotel is centrally located within Manchester making it an ideal venue from which to enjoy all that the city has to offer. Predictably Its rooms are clean, tidy and warm as one would expect, though this was evidentially not the case when I recently stayed at the Travelodge in Scarborough (see review). It’s breakfast service is organised efficiently and the breakfast area is large enough to cater for many people, with plenty of room for all, hence making it a very relaxed experience for the start of the day. All the food was hot and there is a wide selection of vegetarian and meat based offerings. The breakfast staff were welcoming and efficient. Similarly the staff on reception were efficient and most engaging making the check-in and checkout procedures simple and easy to do. They were most helpful when providing directions to local areas of interest too. I was offered a room upgrade when I chose to have breakfast as part of my stay, going from a room without a window, to one with. Once again I’ll handled very efficiently. Although I didn’t opt for an early checkin they were able to offer me a room when I arrived, so I didn’t have to store my luggage in the baggage checkin. This made a great difference to me, and was offered straight away due to a room being available. A very human way to operate. The price of the accommodation including breakfast was very very reasonable for a stay in such a beautifully appointed hotel, bang in the city centre. It is apparently that the staff all enjoy working there, and that imbues the hotel with a very warm and inviting atmosphere. I recommend recommend the hotel without hesitation. Enjoy!!
You get what you pay for. We've stayed at this hotel 3 times as it is dog friendly, well located and quite cheap. But it comes at a cost. The rooms are very average at best. The hotel looks impressive from the outside but inside you can see that it's not looked after. The fact that it's dog friendly is very much appreciated and it comes at an extra cost of £10 per night. The breakfast here is the worst. We've had it once and it was literally the worst hotel breakfast I've ever had. The security guys, I get that they are doing their job, but after a certain time they are very intimidating, asking us questions and checking if my partner (male) knows me ( female), if we are together and asking me for the room number to check if I actually stay there even though we've come and gone from the hotel multiple times per day and they've seen us before. I guess they've seen many things happen but they could be better at it. As I said at the beginning, you get what you pay for. It is a cheap hotel in the centre of the city but not one of the good ones in general. It gets the job done.
