Avoid at all costs! We had two bathrooms fitted by Blue Water Plumbers in June 2016, an en suite and our main bathroom. Having been first time buyers and only moving into the property 9 months prior we were excited to get some work done and decided to start on the bathrooms. We found Blue Water through Google and were happy with the reviews, so we got them in for a quote. They were pleasent enough and helped develop on our initial ideas of the en suite being a walk in shower, so we decided to use Blue Water for the work. The work was quoted at ~£12,000 which seemed expensive, but you get what you pay for, right? Wrong. What was meant to be two brand new bathrooms in 4-6 weeks turned into 3 months of hell. They arrived promptly on the first day to rip out the old ensuite bathroom and seemed to make a lot of progress. On the second day the plumber decided to just not turn up. When we finally managed to get in touch with the business owner to tell him that the plumber had not arrived he tried to get hold of him to no avail. This continued for the majority of the day resulting in a day of lost work. The owner managed to get us another plumber the day after who seemed much better. When the original missing plumber finally reappeared a few days later we had no apology, they just put him back on the project. For the next few weeks he turned up after 9am most days, took a few hours off at 11am to 'get supplies' and left at 3:30pm most days to 'go to the plumbers merchant'. The work that he did do when he bothered to turn up was not up to the standard we had been told of. In the en suite the gaps between the tiles are too small, too much grout had been washed out and the sealant around the shower and window was a complete state. The flush to the toilet was also damaged on two occasions yet when we tried to call to ask about this they fobbed us off saying that it was fine. When they finally moved onto the next bathroom they ripped the entire thing out without the en suite being complete leaving us without a toilet for a day. Once all the electrics and boarding work had been done they finally commenced tiling. The tiles were not laid flat, the gaps are too wide between tiles and the grouting is not to a satisfactory standard. It is too thick and parts of it are now falling out. Many of the tiles laid were also cracked and when queried they just shrugged it off. In addition the bath was not protected when the tiling was taking place so we ended up with a brand new bath that was completely scratched by the plumber. Seven weeks in we decided we had finally had enough and requested another plumber. The second plumber was much better in that he actually turned up on time and left on time but the standard of work was still not great. He ended up pulling an entire wall of tiles off and re-doing it due to the mistakes the previous plumber made, however, the problems continued with the wrong colour grout being used (it was quite obviously the wrong colour yet when we informed them of this they were adamant they had used the correct grout and it was just our eyes!). It felt like the owner just couldn't really be bothered to deal with the project and when we called them to query things or complain they just stopped answering the phone. A lot of the time wrong taps etc were delivered which meant more lost time due to them having to replace them for the right ones. Ultimately it felt like we were having to manage the project and not the business owner. If we had wanted to manage the project ourself we certainly wouldn't have paid as much as we did. We're now almost three years from the project starting and every single day we look at the bathroom we are disappointed, to the point where in a few years we are intending to have them ripped out and done again. We have a walk in shower where much of the grout has fallen out, a wall hung toilet that feels as though it's about to fall off the wall and in another bathroom we have a bath that leaks, untidy grout and in places grout that has fallen out. We would recommend you avoid these people!!
It's been six years since we had two bathrooms fitted (see review by James Bethell below). In addition to the poor workmanship evident on those photos we've had a persistent leak that nobody has been able to locate. Currently taking the ceiling down in the kitchen due to water damage and the leak is finally located. The cause? A cross threaded bath waste that means every time the bath or shower is run the ceiling leaks. I'd pretty much got over the drama of the bathroom but I'm utterly fuming about it again now. How does a supposedly experienced fitter make such a fundamental error? One to avoid. I'd say I'd like for them to get back in touch to figure out what went wrong, but given they absolved themselves of all responsibly previously I'm not sure that would help. Edited - it would appear the company has been dissolved so I doubt they care about this review 😂😂
We inherited a conventional vented hot water system when we moved here last year. Although it worked as it should, there were a couple of things we didn’t like about it: 1) The main showers were pumped due to low hot water pressure. This was alright until the pumps failed however in addition they were very noisy when in use. 2) hot water everywhere in the house suffered from low pressure and it took a long time to deliver hot water to most taps. In the garage I timed it at three minutes before hot water finally casually made its appearance. Bluewater recommended a Thermal Store and also the installation of a hot water loop due to the size of the house. What I liked about the process was that Justin spent plenty of time understanding what we needed and explaining what they were proposing and how it would work. Once we had agreed the proposal, work started exactly as scheduled and I was very impressed with Leigh’s work rate, professionalism and willingness to answer questions. Bluewater took care of the entire job including the electrical work, raising and refitting carpets and floor boards - there was literally nothing for us to do other than supply tea! The work was very neatly done with minimal disruption. We were billed exactly what was in the proposal. At the end of the job we now have: 1) mains-pressure hot water delivered wherever we need it; 2) quiet showers; 3) much better shower-flow than we had before (even with the pumps); 4) hot water available within a few seconds in the main bathroom and more quickly everywhere else in the house; 5) a very neat installation in the garage which is easy to understand; 6) no header tank in the loft to worry about which frees up some space and also removes the risk of leaks/freezing. I’d say they delivered exactly what we expected, when we expected it. I’d have no hesitation recommending Bluewater.
Bathroom Refurbishment We knew that we wanted a new bathroom but really struggled for ideas. We contacted Bluewater and they held our hands through the entire process. The bathroom design and 3D plans done by Andy were excellent and really helped us to visualise what the new bathroom would look like. The attention to detail and help with layout and colour schemes was greatly appreciated and meant we knew exactly what we were going to get. The installation went well. Jack turned up each day on time and kept the house tidy whilst he worked. Very polite and nothing was too much trouble. Our new bathroom looks beautiful and our friends are all very impressed. The final invoice was exactly as quoted - so, no nasty surprises!
I have to say it's not first time I've used Bluewater and it won't be the last. Andrew was very pleasant as was Leigh last year. Boiler serviced bath resealed and rad pipe sorted in hallway. Just await quote for couple more jobs but have every faith that Justin will come up with a good price for another excellent job 😊
