Terrible, terrible customer service. I picked up a mark in a new set of glasses so went in to order a new pair. Good news; They reminded me that I had paid for their top lens package that covered me for a replacement and they kept the glasses in for replacements. 4 weeks later without the glasses and after two visits to check on progress I got the old ones back as they had no news on when the lesses would be available. Now 7 weeks with no communication and having been again in I’ve just been told that they still don’t have the lenses - with no further information. Manager would call later in the day; No call.
Terrible after service but amazingly helpful when you want to buy! Despite calling within 24 hours to ask to put my glasses order on hold until we contacted them, they put the order through. I had hurt my foot and was in extreme pain the day I chose my glasses and asked the sales person could I come back another day but was pushed into continuing. I collected my glasses yesterday, they weren’t fitted correctly. I retuned today in a rush as we are just about to leave for the airport for a week’s holiday. The sales assistant told me I had to wait 15/20 minutes, I explained I couldn’t but he was totally in flexible. I left then returned to again explain I had to go to the airport. I had stepped to the side of his counter so he then started to get funny about it. Implying I was being aggressive. I was upset and exasperated that he was being so unhelpful. I was desperate not aggressive. I have a shop and if my staff were as inflexible as he was I would not be happy with them sometimes you just have to help people. So I went to my local opticians, who were also busy, and they came to my rescue fitting my glasses correctly as they should have been when I collected them. Beware a pushy sales business with no care or after service do not buy from this company.
Biggest concern is value on lenses. Looked at a pair of Lindberg frames that were £599 with single vision lenses. I was advised that adding a varifocal and reaction would push the price up to over £1000, and that’s with a 20% discount on the lenses. When I queried the hike I was advised I was being quoted for premium and the lenses that come with the frame at £599 are basic plastic. That said I have no problem paying the price for the frames as they are hand crafted titanium, but a £400 - £500 hike just for adding a varifocal and reactions to the lenses is hilarious. Left the quote with the assistant.
We recently used this opticians for the first time and were very impressed. As a family with a variety of special needs we were a little apprehensive but we needn't have been. The Ophthalmologist was very skilled and gave us all the time and support we needed and when the time came to choose frames (from the huge collection) all the assistants were lovely and very professional throughout the process. The ambience of the shop was good also, smart, clean and exclusive feeling. We will definitely return when we need new glasses and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this opticians to all of our friends.
AVOID… booked an appointment, arrived at 9:30, the store at Handforth wasn’t open, 15 minutes later they still weren’t open. When they finally opened the first comment from one of the 5 staff stood around the counter was that I was late and needed to rebook. one of the staff noticed I’d been waiting outside and begrudgingly offer to do my test when I challenged them… not great service when looking to buy 2 pairs of glasses…glasses took 2 weeks to be made and are wrong…all in all a dreadful experience.
