Great tattoo shop with great artists. I can't recommend Arran Knott highly enough for his freehand work, but all the tattooists have their own style and have great work.
Of all the tattoo shops I've been to, this is by far my favourite. The vibe is so lovely, it's great to see tattoo artists that actually have decent tattoos, a good attitude, and not screaming heavy metal when you walk through the door (not that I don't like it, but sometimes you just want to chill.) The best bunch of people too. My sitting was a great experience. My tattoo artist, Dan, has rectified what has been the bane of my life for a few years and I absolutely LOVE my redo and can't wait to see his fresh work in the coming weeks. I couldn't recommend The Mortal Coil and Dan high enough (if realism style is your thing.) Pictures below, from this to that.
Having had quite a few tattoos here from a few of the artists, I thought it was about time I leave a review. From first initial contact I felt at ease, Alina the shop manager has always been so helpful and friendly when I've emailed or been in the shop. I love our little chats when I'm there, she also does piercings and reassured me when I was considering a medusa piercing as I was worried about the fitting on the initial bar being too big, she shown me a selection of the jewellery she offers and I found one that I liked and did the piercing for me. she was professional and made sure she went through the aftercare procedure thoroughly before I left. Samantha gave me a floral tattoo on an area I was conscious about previously and now I am not worried about buying clothes that give full coverage in an area I once hated being on show. Liala did matching tattoos for myself and my daughter for her birthday and they are absolutely beautiful and we both love them! I also had a tattoo that I'd had done many years ago on my wrist which I hated, I wanted a cover up doing and was told that Arran would be able to achieve this for me, what started off as just wanting a cover up has turned into a progressive sleeve, His talent for realisim is insane, so much so my husband is booked in for his first tattoo with him in a few weeks! the shop is absolutely packed with amazingly talented artists and I will always recommend them when people are looking for places to go for tattoos.

I have been coming to This Mortal Coil for the past 6 years and previous to that was tattooed by the owner (Dan) at his previous studio! What keeps me coming back apart from the absolute insanely talented guys/girls who work there is the incredible atmosphere and the willingness to accommodate any special requests or changes to my bookings etc. Thanks Dan for having and running such a great studio! And finally, thank you to Kat, who is by far the best person to walk the land, thank you for giving me the confidence I never had before my tattoos! You’re all incredible 👍🏼
