A great hotel, lovely staff. I booked a single room for the night which was spotlessly clean and had everything I needed. The building is very old and floors are uneven but it's all part of the charm! Great price and brilliant location near the Arndale Centre, I would definitely stay here again!
Next to the shopping centre, but when booking I don’t remember seeing any description of there being multiple pubs around the hotel. Walking into the hotel you have to walk through the pub and you have a horrible alcohol smell until you get into the reception of the hotel. Floor was creaky, paint was old and chipped, floor was stained, the fan in the room was in pieces. I understand the building is old and there is a sign telling you that the water takes time to warm up because of how old it is but in this day and age just update the plumbing! Shared the room with a colleague and the toilet door was sticking so whenever you had to use the toilet and wanted some privacy, you had to work together to open the door. If you’re claustrophobic, FORGET ABOUT IT.
Nice beer (town prices) and atmosphere. Until the Friday night guitarist came on. Acoustic guitar and singer, fully mic'ed up and amplified. Was way too loud for an empty pub at 6.30pm had one and left. It's normally ok.
Great location. Nice room. Had a kettle and tea and coffee but no milk? Room was very cold in the night and couldn't be arsed getting out of bed to see if could turn radiator up. Would stay again.
Located near train station, restaurants and bars. However, barely slept as it rather loud outside and I'm a light sleeper. Especially terrible as the Manchester Cathedral beside the hotel had a gig and was taking out equipment until like 3am. The next morning the Cathedral was ringing it's bell all Sunday morning. Also, another building alarm was going of that morning. We paid for English breakfast and it was freezing. Also the floors and steps are all uneven. Might be tricky for some people.
