Hotel is really well taken care of and is really nice. However the issue is with noise isolation on some floors as the hotel is next to rail tracks - the most the reception could offer not due to their fault were earplugs as they were fully booked out. :( The reception staff were very lovely when I reached out on another try (thanks so much to the gentleman who helped out that night!) and found a different room in the end!
Visited to meet some friends who were staying there. Didn't see inside a bedroom but the toilets were very clean Sat inside for a coffee. The staff were friendly and polite The Barman I spoke to when ordering coffee was very knowledgeable on single malt whisky and we had an interesting and pleasant conversation. Surprised that the coffee we ordered was comparable in price to other locations considering the Hotel rating. Enjoyed the coffee and catching up with my friends. Would I go again yes, should have got my friends to show me their rooms Nice to see how the other half live Really nice to sit in one of the comfortable chairs enjoy a coffee and chat with my friends.
The hotel is well laid out. You're welcomed with a very nice smell in the lobby. The rooms were good, beds comfy and the right amenities in the rooms. The meeting rooms were well sized and had large TVs available. Service at the front desk was quick and polite. All good so far. Ordering room service was a very poor experience, all of us waited and hour and a half and weren't communicated with. I ended up cancelling and heading to a local restaurant. I understand the restaurant wait was also an hour and a half in the evening. The hotel location is good, with a tram station nearby and lots of local restaurants. However the room service caused us quite a bit of an issue at the end of a long day. For the price I expected a lot better here.
Just had a 1 night stay with my partner at the Midland Hotel. We have been here before for drinks and food, but this was our first time staying. We did arrive early and our room was not ready, which is perfectly understandable. The receptionist took our luggage and we made full use of the bar, which was well stocked and had plenty of seating. Unfortunately we did end up having to wait a lot longer for our room (an hour past our check in time). However, the reception team made us very comfortable and we ended up with two sets of free drinks and two free breakfasts, which was more than acceptable for the inconvenience. When we did get into the suite, we found it to be perfect, well maintained and beautifully presented. We had room service food delivered, again it was delicious and good quality. £7 delivery charge for room service was a little steep though. The spa was nice for the free hour, however I wouldn’t pay for any additional time as an hour was more than enough. I can’t comment on any treatments they offered as we didn’t have any. Check out was a breeze as it was all done online. Every member of staff we spoke with were friendly and helpful. All a great credit to the hotel! Overall it was a lovely relaxing stay, yes there were some slight problems, but they were well dealt with and the free drinks/breakfast more than covered any inconvenience caused.
I visited the Midland for a catered business event. I didn't stay the night so I can't comment on the rooms. The food served at the event was pretty dire. I was on the vegetarian option, which meant a starter of cubed goats cheese and some tomatoes, then a main of watery, flavourless risotto with tinned peas and sweetcorn, and - to top it off! - a crumble for dessert where the crumble topping wasn't cooked 😲 The service was polite and friendly but, given this is a hotel with a reputation for its food, I was sorely let down. And hungry! The risotto was barely there.
